The PR marine 98 by designed by Frank Mulder is a yacht that was a build ahead way ahead of her time. Some of the amazing and innovative features on board are now considered to be standard yacht options. So much so that this particular vessel has featured in a James Bond movie and is a history which always creates a taking point on board.
The designer Frank Mulder created a futuristic work of art which exhibits many features that are truly innovative.
Recently refitted over 1 year in 2014 this GRP PR Marine 98 presents beautifully.
The full beam salon with 11 large viewing windows creates an open ambient feeling and brings the outside ocean environment in.
The 3 cabin layout plus crew means that all cabins have excellent volume in all areas of the cabin.
Powered by twin MTU 16V2000 M90, 1343 KW engines propels the PR Marine 98 to a ... more top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots. A very comfortable and economical cruising speed is achieved at 12 knots. Twin new gensets have been fitted guaranteeing redundancy and reliable power to the vessel.
Boarding the vessel is either by the molded port and starboard side entry’s or from the stern on the 9 m2 swim platform. Twin companionways to the cockpit from port and starboard give great flow particularly when out using the boat and her water toys.
The 18 m2 aft teak cock pit is fully covered in addition to the drop down custom sides and aft covers for protection during mooring, bad weather or enhanced privacy. Cockpit features include dimmable ceiling lights, fridge, cockpit speakers and dining for 6 at the cockpit dining table and serving bar. Access to the crew cabins and engine room is via the port cockpit companionway. The Sonos system throughout allows the owner and guests to use the multiple iPads on board to play videos, music, web surf in different zones set though out the vessel allowing personal entertainment choice where ever you are on board.
The true brilliance of the design and one of the most significant features on this PR Marine 98 is the salon. At 50 m2 this area is enhanced by 11 windows and auto opening aft sliding doors with 24 m2 of glass giving breathtaking views to the sea. The salon is a fantastic entertaining area which is enhanced by the abundance of glazing in the salon.
Finished in accents of elegant walnut burl and gold, large off white square leatherette head linings, two pack pearlescent inlays with white carpets really creates a unique retro ambience. The well-equipped starboard bar boasts dual wine fridges, ice maker, bar fridge and 4 bar stools with backrests.
The salon cinema is certainly one to be enjoyed by all. A giant 65 cm flat screen TV on articulating arm gives custom viewing angles in the salon.
The Italian glass dining table for 8 or 6 is also flanked by the large viewing salon windows. A great place for all your senses to be stirred.
The raised pilot house and its open mezzanine entrance from the salon provides access to the galley, owner’s cabin and lower cabins. The open feeling creates the impression of a larger yachts foyer to gain access the other areas of the vessel. Again this is all enhanced by the large salon windows and the helm station forward windows.
The longitudinal mid ship galley with black decorative terrazzo boasts a full complement of equipment, full sized fridge with water dispenser and ice maker, Miele 5 burner electric cook top, oven, dishwasher, excellent cupboard and draw space. The chef on board says she loves the great bench space and the servery to the dining room.
It's really quite hard to determine which the best feature of this PR marine 98 is. The master cabin certainly will be enjoyed by the new owner. Sprawled over two levels at 50 m2 the volume and comfort in this generous cabin is not seen on some 40 m. super yachts.
Features include the king sized island bed with dresser drawers, settee, 180 degree windows with electric blinds, dressing table and pop up TV . Stepping down to the bathroom and dressing room, we have a separate shower and head, his and hers sinks to starboard and IR sauna. To port and starboard are his and hers cupboards with full length mirrors. A cabin fit for a king and queen.
The lower cabins are an artist work of retro art. Very cool indeed and very in generous in size at approximately 32m2 each. Walnut burl and gold accents with pearlescent inlays are a theme which carries throughout the boat.
A full beam bathroom with his and her vanity, separate showers and head with the center piece being a full sized bath. A glass etched window separates the bathroom and cabin. Like the owners cabin the island beds are flanked by twin dresser drawers, concealed tv, iPad to control the Sonos entertainment system, lounge and dressing table. A cleaver use of glass and mirrors in these cabins really set off the retro ambience.
The raised pilot house helm gives a great 300 degree view for the captain to the ocean. The full sized chart table is a great navigation area and is a feature almost forgotten on new boat in this electronic age. The aft leather raised settee is a great place for guests to watch the crew in action. The electronics package comprises of Raymarine GS series plotter , Simrad back up chart plotter , radar , autopilot, bow and stern thruster , AIS searchlight, VHF , HF and Iridium sat phone to name a few of the features in the raised pilot house all in full air conditioned comfort.
Crew are taken care of in two cabins with a separate captain’s cabin. Separate shared shower and toilet for crew and laundry all contained within the crew area in addition to access to the engine room. Please see technical specification for machinery details.
A wonderful area is the 30m2 fly bridge. Just the right balance of sun and shade has been reached. The aft sun pad could have 4 people lounging in comfort on the soft toweling covers. The U shaped seating has the ability to seat 12 and a dining table alfresco style for 6. Serving bar with electric hot plate and bar fridge is very practical and the grey Sunbrella Bimini provides excellent cover to this entire fly bridge area. The central helm and dual molded seat provides a great place to drive when the weather or guest activity suits.
From the fly bridge dual port and starboard molded gates lead to majestic teak companionways down to the bow sun pad and seating. Also in the area are the dual anchor windlasses.
Toy and tender storage is taken care of in twin enclosed garages. One upper garage with davit and 4 m. Avon jet rib and the lower garage housing the jet ski, sea bobs, dive compressor and other water toys.
The futuristic lines on this recently refitted PR marine makes very good use of space with her 3 cabin configuration and abundance of entertaining and living areas all bathed in natural light. An inspection is absolutely necessary to appreciate the design and great efforts of the crew with regard to the presentation of this vessel.
