We are well
into the boat show season, with the next major show
being the Sydney International Boat Show from 29 July to
2 August.
Now the
largest marine recreational show in the Southern
Hemisphere, the Sydney show will feature more than 260
exhibitors. A reminder, also, that we have the Cannes
International Boat Show 8-13 September and the Genoa
International Boat Show from 2-10 October.
Lee Marine
General Manager Martin Holmes is this month’s profiled
manager. Martin [or Marty as he is known to most ] has
been with Lee Marine since it started 13 years ago, so
has seen some great changes in the industry during that
time.
Commented Martin on the current
conditions in Thailand: “Both Thailand and Lee Marine
are pretty resilient to these things and I expect that
the second half of the year will see us bounce back. The
manufacturers are releasing some excellent new products
in 2010/2011 and we have been busy behind the scenes
strengthening certain areas of the company so that we
get on with what we enjoy most – selling
boats!
Martin
also reports on his attendance at the Jeanneau dealers’
meeting in Rome in June, featuring the unveiling of many
new models, particularly power boats, but also an
exciting new sail yacht and, most importantly, two new
outstanding innovations in boat control and power
storage that could be ideal for Asia-Pacific
conditions.
Managing
Director Joshua Lee and Martin also took the
opportunity, while in Italy, to visit the Pershing
factory where a new Pershing 80’ bound for Thailand is
still under construction. They also looked over the new
Pershing 92’ and huge Pershing 108’, the latest
models in the Pershing range.
We also
profile two new models, the Custom Line 100 and the
Pershing 92’. Over the coming months we will continue to
release new information on models as they are released
by manufacturers.
Senior
broker Andrew de Bruin reports on a visit to the Bertram
plant in “Miami Vice” country, Miami, USA where he
experienced the new Bertram 800. Andrew was suitably
impressed.
In our
Round Up section, which is proving to be popular, we
report on the upcoming Phuket Race Week starring some
beautiful new Jeanneau Yachts aswell as the mighty Lee
Marine Merry Fisher.
