PERSHING FACTORY
VISIT:
On a
recent trip to Italy, Lee Marine broker Marcus Overman
was able to visit the Pershing facility for the first
time, and was suitably
impressed.
The Pershing factory in
Mondolfo, Italy is not your every day boat building
yard. In Pershings own words, it is a generator
of ideas. It is a place where a whole range of energies
are bought together. Beauty and Technology become one,
and Dreamers and Pioneers work side by
side.
The Pershing factory was
designed and built to purposely nurture the creative
process. As distinctive as the boats it produces, this
is a highly fertile breeding ground where the air is
heavy with inspiration, and skill and sophistication can
be discovered everywhere you look. This far from a
faceless factory shed, this is a place to experience the
very essence of what sets Pershing apart from the
competition.
Marcus and Josh
were welcomed by Pershing Manager, Alessandro
Diomedi, and spent time going through the facility
together whilst getting up to speed on the latest
factory and model developments. Gus had this to
say:
"The factory itself is a little unexpected
as it is set against a backdrop of a beautiful green
valley, rolling hills and farmland. The meeting rooms
and offices have full height glass panels and walls
which bring this lovely surrounding into the
workplace."
"The production facilities are in
three main areas - Production 1, 2 and 3 -
and it was good to see boats at all stages of
construction. The boats are built to order and
so this traffic was good to see again after a
difficult year for many manufacturers."
"The
entire facility was spotless and
professionally managed and this reflects the
immense pride of all the staff employed there at every
level. After being involved with Pershing Yachts for
several years now, it was great to be introduced to the
people on the floor whos names we had heard, but had
perhaps never met. Everyone was genuinely passionate
about the boats they were building."
"On the day
we were there, we were lucky enough to see the launch of
the yards latest flagship, the incredible Pershing 115
ft. The boat was being launched into a test tank for the
first rounds of in water system tests. What a sight!
This is one big Pershing! It was awe inpiring enough
just standing next to it, but to imagine the boat
at full tilt doing 50 knots is something
else."
"I left Mondolfo that day truly
inspired by the Pershing team and the boats that
they dream and produce. I look forward to returning
soon and I would whoileheartedly recommend the
experience to any potential Pershing
owner."
