Dear
Valued Customers & Subscribers,
Welcome to the Lee Marine Newsletter from
Phuket, Thailand.
It’s October, and the high season for
Phuket is just around the
corner.
As the monsoon rains abate
and the familiar sunshine and blue skies re-appear, one
may be forgiven for drawing a comparison between the
promise of better weather and the general feeling of
optimism reportedly being felt by the global financial
markets and consumers.
Could things really
be looking up?
The recent Cannes boat show and upcoming
Genoa boat show may offer an indication of how the boat
market is doing.
Lee Marine’s Jim Poulsen
returned from Cannes after ordering the first Jeanneau
at the show on day one and was glad to get there early
as the docks filled up quickly with visitors arriving to
see the new models on offer for
2010.
“I was surprised at the number of
people there and it looks like the current DEAL 2010
promotion is proving successful”, he remarked.
Joshua Lee, who was also at the show, had
similar tales to tell. “OK, the show
was probably not as busy as previous years, but the
market is still very active and the manufacturers are
keen to keep their order books full for the coming
nautical season. There are some superb deals available
across the board.”
Here in Phuket, we can only
agree.
Our brokerage sales have already
surpassed 2008 numbers, and enquiries are strong. We are
preparing to take delivery of some fantastic new boats
between now and the end of the year and are gearing up
for the Phuket boat show, PIMEX, now rescheduled for
January 2010.
So, start planning for your high season and
make sure you have a boat to enjoy it with. I can’t tell
you what the markets will do, but I can tell you that
the sun will be shining, the water will be blue and a
lifestyle investment in a boat for you and your family
always gives good returns.
See you on the water!
Martin Holmes.
