Build update: Hull and superstructure joined on Sanlorenzo 64 Steel

Italian yard Sanlorenzo has revealed that the hull and superstructure have been joined on its in-build flagship yacht, the Sanlorenzo 64 Steel.

Sold in July 2016, this 64 metre project is due for completion in 2019. As these images reveal, the steel hull and aluminium superstructure were joined at the yard’s La Spezia facility last month.

As the rendering below shows, the sleek exterior styling features elegant lines, which were created by Officina Italiana Design. Key features include an aft-deck superyacht swimming pool with a glass base, allowing natural light to filter through to the beach club below. Meanwhile, the large foredeck area features a touch-and-go superyacht helipad.

No interior designer has been revealed as yet and the total number of cabins is still to be confirmed but Sanlorenzo has promised “innovative interiors” totalling 1,500GT with accommodation for up to 12 guests.

Hull number 140 for Sanlorenzo, this full-displacement superyacht will feature six guest cabins, with crew accommodation for 18 people split across nine additional cabins.

Sanlorenzo added that the new flagship yacht will be fitted out with twin 2,375hp CAT 3516C engines, allowing the 64 Steel to achieve its estimated top speed of 17 knots. An alternative MTU set-up will be made available on any future hulls, with the same performance figures promised.

Other projects currently under construction at Sanlorenzo’s La Spezia facility include the second hull in the 52 Steel series, which is due for completion before the end of the year.
