Inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous a success

The very first edition of the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR) drew to a close last week, with organisers reporting the inaugural event a success. Hosted from 10th until 12th December in Phuket, Thailand, a total of 15 superyachts attended in total, the largest being the 90-metre Lauren Lbuilt by Cassens-Werft in 2002.

Highlights from the rendezvous included an opening cocktail party at Kata Rocks, a cruise with all yachts in attendance to The Surin Phuket where guests were treated to a gourmet beach BBQ, and the invitation-only Owner’s gala dinner hosted in Kata Rocks Penthouse Sky Villa by Feadship.

Bas Nederpelt, ‎Commercial Director at Feadship, comments on the success of KRSR in regards to kicking off the charter season for the region: “The organisers of the 2016 Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous have exceeded all our expectations. Kata Rocks hosted very energetic parties attracting the right crowd and organised a memorable owner’s dinner. The 2017 cruising season could not have had a better kick-off. With KRSR, Phuket truly is now well and truly Asia’s top yachting destination.

We were very impressed with the inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous,” continues Richard Lambert, Managing Director Asia at Burgess. “It was a professionally organised event with an excellent social programme and an impressive array of yachts joining the rendezvous. As well as launching the Asia charter season we are confident that the KRSR will become an important fixture in the international yachting calendar.

The second edition of the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous will be held from 8th to 10th December 2017.
