Iconic Australian luxury yacht-builder Riviera has just announced a new ‘presidential’ design for its supremely stylish 6000 Sport Yacht – one that confirms her position as ‘the ultimate on-water entertainer’.

This sleek new flagship of Riviera’s sophisticated Sport Yacht fleet – which made her world premiere in August last year – has already been widely acclaimed as a high-performance vessel akin to a six-star luxury resort, with the confirmed sales of 16 of the new 6000 models in the eight months since her world premiere.

Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said this latest example of design flexibility is further evidence of the luxury marque’s commitment to catering to an extremely wide range of boating pursuits and individual styles in the world’s most fabled boating regions.

“The presidential design for the sleek 6000 Sport Yacht provides an enlarged floor plan for the full-beam master stateroom which creates an even more expansive and luxurious private retreat for owners, with additional storage and a new casual dining and sitting area, complemented by a superior level of comfort and opulence in the master bathroom that our global family of owners have come to expect from Riviera,” he said.

“In this new presidential design, the master bathroom is located forward in a versatile area which also has options for a teenager’s retreat, office space, lower galley or fourth stateroom.

Within the presidential stateroom there is a generous dining and sitting area to port which is ideal for a private breakfast, with plenty of natural light streaming into the master stateroom through large hull windows on both sides of the yacht. The new casual dining table doubles as a fold-up make-up bureau, while the presidential layout also features extra drawer storage at the base of the television, as well as an additional forward full-length hanging wardrobe. The design features the 6000’s signature king-sized walk-around bed amidships, as well as a substantial walk-in wardrobe aft, and large lounge to starboard.

The master ensuite boasts luxurious Milli Glance and Grohe fixtures, complemented by a heated towel rail and the highest quality Italian ceramics. A frameless glass door leads to the large shower stall and includes a chrome showerhead on a slide bar, again complemented by the highest quality non-slip flooring. The laundry with separate washer and dryer is located forward of the master bathroom to port, accessed from the central atrium area.

unnamed-3Mr Longhurst said the Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht, in either of its design layouts, is supremely comfortable with clever alfresco lifestyle design, ultramodern technology and palatial appointments.

“The 6000 has a level of attention to every detail from bow to stern that confirms she is indeed a world-class Riviera,” he said.

“She combines Riviera’s legendary blue-water performance with an impressive sports-styled helm, joystick manoeuvrability, luxurious accommodation, three bathrooms, contemporary and stylish hull windows and portholes, dual electric sliding sunroofs and fixed skylights … as well as a large, open cockpit with BBQ centre and undercover seating and dining areas.”

Underneath the expansive cockpit of the 6000 Sport Yacht is a large garage for a 3.2-metre (10.5ft) tender and outboard that can be easily loaded using the built-in electric winch, with additional room for accessories and water toys.

Wide side decks with well-placed grab rails give access from either side of the 6000 Sport Yacht to her colossal-sized sun pad which sprawls the centreline of the forward deck, which has its own stereo so you can plug and play your favourite tunes while soaking up the sun.

The strong fibreglass hardtop extends back over her generous 10.5 square metre (113 square feet) cockpit to provide shade and shelter from the extremities, and features a large solid fibreglass electric sliding sunroof to bring even more light and fresh air into the alfresco area when desired.

Her huge array of entertainment capabilities are complemented by second-zone speakers from the saloon, LED mood lighting as well as a large glass awning window that hinges out of the way from the rear bulkhead to create a free-flowing feel from bow right through to stern.

The 6000’s luxurious aft galley – at the centre of the social scene – features high-end Miele appliances and Vitrifrigo drawer refrigeration, while a tinted bronze glass finish to the overhead galley cabinets adds yet another touch of refinement to the satin walnut varnish joinery used throughout the yacht.

“The 6000 Sport Yacht’s rich interior sense of light, space and liveability is enhanced through fixed skylights and a second tinted glass electric sunroof above the saloon lounge and helm, bringing the outdoors inside to create a further alfresco area in its own right,” said Mr Longhurst. “Here, soft-touch leathers and the highest quality fabrics complement a range of practical features for dining, lounging and even working whilst aboard.”unnamed-4

Riviera chief executive officer Wes Moxey said the dignified composure of the 6000 Sport Yacht is just as evident offshore as it is at anchor – her solid and robust hull with keel, with solid bottom and cored topsides, is the evolution of Riviera’s rich 35-year heritage in building world-class luxury powerboats that are proven in the sometimes challenging Australian offshore conditions.

“Our talented team of international designers and engineers also incorporates state-of-the-art technology from around the globe to deliver Riviera owners ‘the ultimate boating experience’,” he said.

“For example, the 6000 Sport Yacht includes C-Zone digital switching. This means that you no longer need to decide which circuit-breakers to turn on or off – simply select the mode which best suits the operation of the yacht such as ‘cruise’, ‘entertain’ or ‘dock unattended’ … and the appropriate circuits will be energised or disengaged. These modes can be customised by the owner, so the system works exactly as you want.” C-Zone control panels in the 6000 Sport Yacht are located at the saloon entrance, at the stylish helm and also in the impressive full-beam master stateroom below deck.

The 6000 also has full auto-pilot, auto-trim, Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) for station-holding while rafting up or waiting off a fuel jetty, as well as Anti-Corrosion Protection (ACP), with an option to upgrade to the innovative Volvo Glass Cockpit system, which includes full joystick steering while underway and further raises the bar in terms of centralised control and monitoring of navigation equipment, engine and alarms.

“The level of technology is evident throughout the yacht, right down to the state-of-the-art battery system, while the 6000’s clever design ensures quick accessibility to key maintenance points, thus increasing reliability, reducing future servicing costs and confirming this beautiful yacht as being in a class of its own,” said Mr Moxey.

The 8 square metre (86 square feet) utility room located under the cockpit can also be converted to crew quarters.

For the 6000 Sport Yacht, Riviera has employed the revolutionary Volvo Penta propulsion system with twin IPS2-950 (533kW / 2 x 725hp) pod drives which, in addition to superior handling and manoeuvring in tight quarters, also offer impressive fuel efficiency, low noise levels, long cruising range and a high top-end speed.

“The Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht has a top speed of around 31 knots under full load and has an approximate cruising range of 268nm at 26 knots (with 10% fuel reserve),” said Mr Moxey. “Of course there’s an additional pop-up joystick in the cockpit for precise docking control. Indeed a skipper – either solo or with a novice crew – can simply push and twist the joystick in the direction required to make the boat respond immediately, pivoting in place or tracking sideways into a berth that’s just long enough to fit the yacht.

The next opportunity to step aboard and inspect the impressive new 6000 Sport Yacht will be at the Riviera Festival of Boating to be held at the world-class Riviera production facility at Coomera on Australia’s Gold Coast (21-24 May 2015), which is this year being staged in conjunction with the Gold Coast International Marine Expo – ‘a massive showcase of all things aquatic featuring everything from superyachts to jet skis, kayaks to fishing equipment … and everything else in between’ – spanning over 50 hectares and encompassing almost the entire Gold Coast Marine Precinct.
