A strong commitment to product development and an ongoing programme of new model launches is keeping Riviera, Australia’s largest boat builder, very busy.

Fresh from winning its second consecutive Australian Marine Industry Exporter of the Year Award, the company held its 5th Festival of Boating this week, which was its largest so far. Riviera had three new launches at the Gold Coast International Marine Expo (GCIME) – one global, one Australian and one Queensland.

Stephen Milne, director of Brand & Communication, commented: “The 2016 Riviera Festival of Boating is the largest we have held and over the four days of the Expo we will hold 110 educational and social events, a programme that has evolved over the four and five years. Education sits as core of what we do in two ways, one of which is boating education for our owners to learn how to use our boats and how to get the best out of them.”

In terms of the new launches, the global one was the 18.5m (61ft) Riviera 575 SUV, which is described as a “cross-over vessel” that combines high-performance, blue-water cruising with the one-level entertaining abilities of the Sport Yacht design. This extends the SUV range to three models, with the other two being the 525 SUV and the 445 SUV.

The Australian premiere was for the 5400 Sport Yacht model, of which 32 have been sold since it was launched. Other Sport Yacht models include the 6000, 4400 and 3600. The Queensland launch was of the Riviera 57 Enclosed Flybridge.

Looking ahead over the next year, the 15m (49ft) Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht will have a pre-Sydney show launch in July 2016. This will be followed by the introduction of a new range called the Sports Motor Yacht Collection at the 2017 Festival of Boating in May. The new model will initially come in two sizes – the 22.7m (75ft) 68 Sports Motor Yacht and the 23.7m (78ft) 72 Sports Motor Yacht.

Wes Moxey, Riviera’s chief executive, says: “This new model will come in two versions, the 68 and 72 Sport Motor Yachts. The first 68 Sports Motor Yacht is now in build and we have taken nine holding deposits for this already.”

This new collection is said by Riviera to bring together sports performance with a sports-scale cockpit, allowing owners to go further afield but also fish effectively. The design offers considerable interior flexibility and can be fitted out with three or four guest staterooms.
